About Newman Real Estate

Newman Real Estate was started by Jim Newman in 1978. At that time Jim was continuing to farm with his family as well as sell land. It was relationships with the local farmers and land owners that initially helped Jim to market and sell Frisco property primarily to real estate investors looking to buy raw land in the expanding Frisco market. Jim became involved with those land owners to help with property zoning as well. In 1985, Jim added Property Tax Consultant to his title. As the City grew, the focus began to represent clients with developing their property through adding infrastructure and utilities which included many of the thriving developments that you see around Frisco today.

The Newmans partnered with Darling Homes to develop Newman Village, a master-planned premier gated community near the North Dallas Tollway and Eldorado Parkway.

In 2007 when Jim began developing his family’s farm in west Frisco, daughter, Lauren Newman Burge, came on board.

In 2013, Whitney Newman Brubaker joined the team and added the residential division to the business.

Newman Real Estate has been busy with land sales north of Frisco, home sales, office leasing, building three office buildings in Mateo Office Park, assisting with relocating Cornerstone Automation Systems to Cobb Business Park, Phase 2A, 2B & 3 of Newman Village residential lots, and the sale and groundbreaking of a 175-acre tract at the North Dallas Tollway and Lebanon Road known as Wade Park.

Our Story

Over 150 years ago, the Newman family settled in Frisco. Pioneered by John Lenox Newman in the mid-1800s, the family has been an anchor in one of the fastest growing cities in the country since its inception. Perhaps best known for their dedication to the thriving community, the Newman’s have been trailblazers in North Texas real estate and development for six generations. From industrial to commercial, retail to residential, Newman Real Estate & Development is Frisco’s boutique brokerage—specializing in Frisco families, businesses and communities.

Anyone who was in the real estate market in the 1980’s or as recent as 2008 will know what “business challenges” can be. Newman Real Estate keeps several years of operating income set aside for those lean years, and we never, never stopped selling real estate. We have found that once people find out that your word is as strong as your signature, that trust will continue to bring them back. We have learned through the years that every deal is not as important to make as to maintain a relationship with the client. Newman Village came out of the ground in 2007, and the market collapsed in 2008. It could not have been a worse time to start a residential subdivision. We could have cut back or even cut corners on the development, but we did not. We kept the course and the vision and today we cannot produce lots fast enough to satisfy the market. Had we not held the course, we would not be where we are today. This applies to most developments we started since 2008.

Newman Real Estate encourages employees to be involved in the community on a personal level as well as a company. Each employee is actively involved in various community projects as well as their churches. We are a family business which means our three spouses are just as involved with us in the various areas in which we serve.

For the past four years Newman Real Estate has planned and sponsored “It’s a Wonderful Life in Newman Village” to raise money for Frisco Family Services (2 years) and Frisco Education Foundation (2 years). We are proud to report that over $15,000 was raised in November, 2014, to provide scholarships and grants for Frisco Education Foundation through this city wide family friendly event offered in the Plaza at Newman Village. Whitney Newman Brubaker also serves on the Frisco Education Foundation Board.

For the past four years Newman Real Estate has provided the planning and monetary support for Letters with Santa at Newman Village in December and the annual 4th of July Picnic at Newman Village. In addition, we financially support the annual Newman Village Kids Lemon Aid Event to raise money to benefit Children’s Medical Center. A contribution was made in the fall of 2014 to help provide a shaded cover for Newman Elementary. Lauren Newman Burge serves on the Newman Elementary CIT Committee.

Newman Real Estate financially supports and volunteers for Frisco Reach Out Back to School and the Joy of Christmas events each year which provides clothing, food, toys and school supplies for needy families in the Frisco, Prosper, and Little Elm area.

Newman Real Estate is an annual Trail Boss Sponsor ($1500) and the family volunteers at The Heritage Association of Frisco’s Shawnee Trail Cowboy Day. You will see Cowboy Jim teaching the children roping skills.

We are all involved in ministries in our churches and mission trips. Jim teaches Bible Study for adults and youth as well as missions education to boys K-5, attends a missions summer camp for boys and international mission trips with youth. Jim serves on the camp board for Camp Change where he volunteers and donates regularly. Jim also serves on the Missions Foundation Board for the Baptist General Convention of Texas. Lauren is involved in church orchestra and serves on the Amazon Christian Missions Board. Whitney has completed Frisco City Hall 101, Frisco Citizens Police Academy Class, Frisco Citizens Fire Academy, active member of the Frisco Women’s League, active in the Frisco Chamber, plays in church orchestra among other activities. Lauren and Whitney serve on the Board of the Baylor University Womens Council of Dallas and help to raise funds for the Baylor Nursing School.
